Return to the farm through four seasons
The farm collection introduces a familiar countryside setting in spring, summer, autumn and winter. The farmhouse, barn, apple tree and wooden fence remain useful landmarks across the four scenes. Children can look for changes around these features while discovering different activities within the pictures. Colouring each scene creates an opportunity to talk about a place where buildings, plants and outdoor life share the same landscape.
Start with the farmhouse and barn, noticing how their shapes and positions help identify the setting. Follow the fence and find the apple tree. Then compare a second seasonal page and ask which landmarks are still easy to recognise. Discuss the people and activities shown, giving the child time to explain what they think is happening in each picture.
A farm scene can become the beginning of a short story. Imagine visiting for a day, choosing somewhere to explore and describing a task or game from the illustration. Children who know a real farm may bring their own memories, while others can build a story entirely from the drawings. There is no need to turn the colouring activity into a list of facts to remember.
Open the four individual A4 PDFs in new tabs to save or print the seasons you want. Use one sheet on its own, arrange the complete set in order or compare it with another landscape collection. Finished farm pictures can support a conversation about what changes across the year and what helps a place remain recognisable, even when its colours and activities are different.
